Then there was clay paste mixed with water. White bread was a total luxury then, well out of the reach of working people and this is being used to clean a carpet! How rich were these people?!Īnother popular method of carpet cleaning was to use Naphtha, this is also a pesticide. Rinse thoroughly with fresh water and leave outside to dry.
