![]() ![]() FabFilter was a ground-breaker when they introduced this scheme almost two decades ago, and they remain out in front, having found some ways to make it even a bit better in T3. And, of course, there’s FabFilter’s top-tier modulation methodology. The time-stretching (constant-pitch) delay mode is found all too infrequently it’s invaluable when used in projects for which tempo changes are involved and you wish to sync the delay to host tempo. Like its predecessor, T3 has two delay lines (either Left-and-Right or Mid-and-Side), a feedback loop incorporating a selection of filters, a delay mechanism that can be tape-like or constant-pitch, and a freeze option which can be modulated. So, even a delay, which most home-studio produces already have an abundance of, is going to generate some genuine interest if it bears the FabFilter name. To many of us, myself included, FabFilter just seems to do things a little better than the competition, if not a lot better. I can’t prove it, of course, but I have to believe that a lot of those original negative answers will be amended to at least something along the lines of “hmmm, let me reconsider” if not outright “bring it!” responses.įabFilter fans will not need to be coerced into at least checking out anything new from that company, even if it’s something few of us really need, if we’re being honest. ![]() Now, insert the phrase “ if it comes from FabFilter” right before the question mark and answer again. No matter what effect was named, I believe there would be a preponderance of negative responses. Now, replace “” with what you just thought of in the following sentence and answer the question posed: “Does the world need yet another ?”. Think of any virtual audio effect type – EQ, compressor, whatever. Let’s conduct a little thought experiment. But it’s not unreasonable to wonder if it isn’t just a bit haughty to go on to replace it with an enhanced version not once but twice. I would suggest that it requires more than a little self-confidence to release anything that you choose to designate as “timeless”. FabFilter released the first version of its delay, Timeless, in 2006, with Timeless 2 getting released three years later. ![]()
